As of July 3, 2023, the SPVM reimburses up to $11,233 in training costs to graduates of the École nationale de police du Québec (ENPQ) once they have been hired. In exchange, they must commit to working for the SPVM for five years.
This incentive is part of an overall strategy for increasing personnel, and for attraction and inclusion of diversity based on new hiring conditions. In March 2023, the SPVM launched an intensive campaign to recruit police personnel from diverse backgrounds or who are graduates in social studies, an exceptional and temporary measure to expand the pool of candidates eligible for the AEC Police Diversity program. In this perspective, we strongly encourage them to express their interest by applying online.
Only police personnel hired since July 3, 2023, are eligible for reimbursement.
Candidates graduating from the ENPQ, once they are hired by the SPVM.
These expenses will be reimbursed by the SPVM after hiring, on presentation of a proof of payment.
In a single payment in the form of a lump sum reimbursement of training expenses (taxable benefit).
In exchange for reimbursement of their training expenses, police personnel undertake to work for the SPVM for a minimum of five (5) years.
The calculation of this five (5) year period begins from the first day of work as a police officer with the SPVM.
This reimbursement program is a temporary retention measure that will end when the SPVM has filled all the vacant positions.
Anyone who does not honour the SPVM 5-year service contract must repay their ENPQ training expenses in full to the SPVM, regardless of the reason for their departure.
The entire amount must be repaid.
The SPVM reimburses the training expenses up to a maximum of $11,233.
