The term “external police officer” means a police officer who has held police officer roles on another police force when they were hired by the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal. IMPORTANT: If the external police officer has served for more than 24 months on another police force, but has worked less than 3,276 hours, they will not benefit from recognition of their experience.
Consult the “Selection Process” tab for more information. To submit your application, please consult the “Apply for a job” tab and complete the “Job application – Neighbourhood police officer” form. Make sure that you provide all of the documents required for your application.
During the selection process, the external police officer must provide proof of the hours worked on one or more other recognized police forces. Only official documents provided before hiring will be used to determine the service date. This date will be used to calculate vacation entitlement and applicable salary on hiring. Each full block of 1,638 regular hours worked is equivalent to one recognized year.
After hiring, the police officer must pass a probation period for an equivalent duration of 12 months.
Here are the working conditions that will be recognized depending on the years of service with another police force:
Recognition of years of service | Vacation entitlement | Salary in 2024 excluding bonuses | Salary in 2024 including bonuses |
---|---|---|---|
2 years | 127.5 hours | $ 61,172 | $ 72,645 |
