Selection criteria

To become a police cadet, you must meet the following conditions:

Have at least one year of considerable work or volunteering experience

  • Have at least one year of significant work or volunteer experience
  • Have a good knowledge of French and working knowledge of English
  • Meet the safety accreditation requirements
  • Be available to work on average 35 hours a week and on call (weekdays, weekends, during the day, evening and, with some exceptions, at night) from the beginning of June until the end of August.

New: Police cadets who stand out for the quality of their work with the SPVM may be given priority in the selection process and hired more quickly as neighbourhood police officers.

To become a police cadet, the applicant must pass all steps of the selection process, i.e.: 

 

  • Selection interview;
  • The skills assessed are:
    • Interpersonal communication (teamwork and assertiveness)
    • Analytical mind
    • Client orientation
  • Security accreditation (security and integrity check).
